Judge rules DC nonprofit illegally diverted grant money to pay salaries for staff: The $931K was intended for a summer youth program.

"A D.C. Superior Court judge ruled that a District-based nonprofit group illegally diverted nearly $1 million that was to be used for a summer youth program but was instead used to pay the group’s executive director and accountant, officials with the District attorney general’s office announced Friday. Judge Maurice A. Ross on Aug. 12 awarded summary judgement for $931,200 that the D.C. Council awarded to the Washington East of the River Academy for a 2009 summer youth program." -- Keith L.
