West Philadelphia nonprofit is "reviving the school library" in district with budgetary issues; so far, with help of donations and volunteers, they've reopened 17.

"A nonprofit organization seeks volunteers and donations to support reopening libraries in public schools facing strained budgets.... The organization has revived 17 shuttered libraries after a budget crunch hit the School District of Philadelphia during the 2009-10 academic year. It was a spinoff from a collaborative effort between the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and the nonprofit’s work on a reading literacy initiative dubbed Open Books, Open Mind." -- Wilford Shamlin III, the Philadelphia Tribune
