Fans of arena football teams in Jacksonville and Tampa Bay donated 38,000 pounds--19 tons--of pet food to nonprofit that helps homeless pets.

"The 19 tons of cat and dog food will be distributed through the First Coast No More Homeless Pets Pet Food Bank. Since March 2010, the organization has given food to low-income pet owners in order to sustain pet ownership and reduce the number of pets in shelters. Since it began, the program has distributed more than 670,000 pounds of pet food, all of which was donated." -- the Jacksonville (FL) Daily Record
