VA's Everest College extracted itself from for-profit network and converted to nonprofit; now previous owner files for bankruptcy, shuttering 28 schools.

"The Everest College campuses in Newport News and Chesapeake aren't part of a nationwide for-profit school shutdown because they were sold in February and converted to nonprofit institutions. Corinthian Colleges Inc., which was the previous owner of the local Everest College campuses, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday after shutting down its remaining 28 college campuses the week before." -- Tara Bozick, the Newport News Daily Press
