Elks of Eastern Shore, MD, chapter celebrate milestone of $1 million in charitable contributions over the past decade, from scouts to cancer awareness.

"The Kent Island Elks, Lodge 2576, in Stevensville, hosted a celebration Sunday afternoon, June 1, in Hauer Hall, in honor of the organization having given more than $1 million back to the community over the past decade, from 2003-2013. The Elks invited all of the federally registered 501(3c) charities they have donated to over the years to attend. The charities included local fire departments, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H youth programs, Hospice of Queen Anne’s, Kent Island Federation of Arts, American Cancer Society, Foundation for Community Partnerships and Truckin’ 4 Troops." -- Doug Bishop, the Kent Island Bay [MD] Times
