Greening of Detroit will be planting trees on Saturdays from now until June 7; hopes to add 2,400 to area parks and neighborhoods before summer arrives.

"A nonprofit group that supports urban reforestation efforts is kicking off its spring planting season in Detroit. The Greening of Detroit on Saturday plans to plant several hundred trees at Rouge Park, with aims of getting roughly 1,300 in the ground at the park before mid-June. It is part of a broader effort to restore the park’s ecosystem that included nearly 500 tree plantings there last fall." -- the Detroit News
