John and Tashia Morgridge were already supporters of alma mater, the Univ of Wisconsin, but now they've pledged largest gift in school history: $100 million.

"The donation of $100 million to support development of UW-Madison faculty was big, blazon-it-on-the-Camp-Randall-scoreboard news. But its long-term impact will be even bigger, say University of Wisconsin-Madison deans. 'It’s a game changer,' said Soyeon Shim, dean of the School of Human Ecology. 'The Morgridges have made a difference on campus in a lot of ways....' UW-Madison officials on Friday announced the gift from alumni John and Tashia Morgridge, the largest single contribution from individual donors in the history of the institution. It will be used to match donations for endowed professorships, chairs and distinguished chairs in an effort to recruit and retain a world-class faculty." -- Pat Schneider, the Cap Times
