Billionaire Paul Allen pledges $100 million to fight Ebola, apparently "motivated by philanthropy [and] love of the African continent".

"Billionaire Paul Allen's pledge Thursday of $100 million to combat Ebola more than triples the $30 million the Trail Blazers' owner typically commits to philanthropy each year. The commitment reflects the gravity with which he views the deadly disease and the affection he feels for the area of the world now being ravaged, said Dune Ives, senior director of philanthropy for Allen's Seattle-based company, Vulcan.
