The Professional Golfers' Association has a large history of charity for those communities where its tournaments are played; since 1938, it has averaged $29M per year, totaling $2.3B in charity.
"The PGA Tour has always focused on giving back to the communities in which its events are played. Golf’s top professional tour reached a new benchmark last year, generating a record $160 million for charity in 2015.
"It’s the first time the PGA Tour and its tournaments have surpassed $150 million in charitable donations in a single year, with the total including contributions made by tournaments on the Champions Tour, Web.com Tour, Canadian PGA Tour, PGA Tour China and PGA Tour Latinoamerica."--Erik Matuszewski, Forbes
